New kid on the blog

There aren't many streetstyle blogs in Singapore and some of them come and go very quickly. A new discovery this week - Outre Singapore by James Bent. It's like a mix of The Sartorialist and The Facehunter. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he continues his work and show us what the nation has become - fashion wise. Here are some of my favourites..

Love the big tulle skirt!

Pris Tan of Chalk. Met her once, sweet and charming girl. Did I mention I totally adore that skirt she created?

If 2/3 of Singaporean men dresses up like these guys do, we will stop seeing the polo tee (collar up! yikes) and jeans combo.

I like his choices.

Basic pieces

From my new favourite streetstyle blog, Copenhagen Streetstyle, I've rediscovered how simple basic pieces that can be found in most wardrobes can look so chic and put together.

I still can't believe he's a postman. Never in a million year would I have guessed. Maybe the postmen in Copenhagen are cooler sartorial beings.

Boyfriend jeans + plaid blouse is not a combination I'd ever try with pointy heels. But hey, it works!

Everything looks so basic about here but yet so cool.

Rope it

The one thing that stands out in this street style photo by The Sartorialist is the super thick rope used as a dog leash. It makes such a cool accessory.

Summer whites

White floaty dresses, a signature headband and brogues! How refreshing and unexpecting. Now I feel a need to score one of those white brogues (or a uber cool black & white one) on ebay.

I'm back!

Sorry for the long hiatus, I've been on vacation and thou i've been back for more than a week now, I still wish I was away. I guess I left my heart in San Francisco (cheesy!). I fell in love with the city in a heartbeat. And since I've been back the heatwave has been such a killer until today. The lack of coolness in the air has made it difficult to feel inspired with fashion or anything at all. And not to mention my 8 year old powerbook might be abandoning me for apple-haven very soon.

With the recent heat wave, and being uninspired fashion wise, I started looking around for inspiration for summer dressing.

First thing that comes to mind would be to throw on a dress and flats, but these girls slipped on killer shoes and rock the look.
Else, sneakers would do the trick too. A pretty lacey frock with sneakers, how unexpected!
Wearing shorts is probably the simplest way to staying cool all summer, but pairing them with blouse or shirt pulls the look together without looking sloppy as opposed to wearing it with tanks or tees. All you need now are nice toned legs to nail it.
Looks like I'd have to hit the gym real soon.

Young Blood

You know how some are born with style as part of their genetic DNA? This little girl is one of them. It was gonna be a post on the amazing print on print layering you see above but then I notice how young AND stylish she is. Only 12 an she's already dressing like a style-meister. Definitely one to look out for. When you're wearing those floral doc martens, you're definitely on my list!

see more of her here.

Hair-issues

Dear Hairy God Mother,
I know i've rant about hair issues many times before. But I honestly hate my flat, limp, lifeless hair. Please grant me good hair. Like her's! I like her hair, it has a natural shine, black and looks flouncy-bouncy. And the cut's oh-so-adorable.

she's cute

You know how some people inspire you to dress certain ways or do certain things just by how they look? This girl make me wanna grow my hair out, pronto!

Girl from down under

There's just something about the air in Australia that makes one goes 'ah....' and a this girl from down under makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Love the lightness of her outfit against her jet black hair. via the facehunter

The infamous Ivan aka the facehunter is in town till tomorrow, and I can't wait to see the styles of Singapore that he captures. I hope he doesn't get disappointed since we're known for the shorts and flip flops. So dress up and head out people, you don't know who you'll be running into.

Winter in Hong Kong

NEWS FLASH! I'll be spending the new year in Hong Kong (my long awaited break!). I need to know how cold will it get and how warm should i keep. When i think of New year's day in Hong Kong, I think of Andy Lau in the streets wearing a trench, it's probably a scene from some movie i've seen. But seriously, I need to know how thick my jackets/coats should be. Are boots mandatory or are flats sufficient? I've been to Hong Kong in September mostly and the weather is just like sunny Singapore, so any and everything about winter in Hong Kong will be great, thanks!

I'd love to look like these ladies during those times, warm and snuggly under those coats and layers. I'm already preparing for my holiday wardrobe.
