Strike a pose

Last week's URBAN did a feature on red carpet poses and somehow i suspect, they had fashion bloggers in mind.  For those not residing in Singapore, URBAN is a weekly fashion supplement that comes with our daily news paper. You can click on the images for a clearer read. Go on and practice your signature pose (just don't do a jolin tsai).

au natural

These photographs by Brigitte Sire are simply breathtaking. It's so natural, it seems like the photos were taken in the moment, no posing nothing.

Jail house rock!

Okay, i know the title is somewhat cheesy, i can't think of anything better. When i saw these on The Cherry Blossom Girl, I knew i had to get it! I've been wanting a pair of b&w striped socks to be worn with pants (very Agyness Deyn). Neither do i want to spend a bomb on it, and mini toons stop supplying cheap socks! If you do not reside in Singapore, Mini Toons is a place where you can find all sorts of cartoony things, little girl's accessories as well as cheap socks in array of colors. Now is the hunt for a pair that suits my criteria, not too thin, not too thick, and the stripes must be perfect! haha *Mental note to self, remember to look out for black & white stripe socks!

oh, when i saw this photo, i thought it looked really soothing. A very nice balance in terms of space. I'd really like to find out where do follow bloggers find the time to take these amazing photos? I can find the time to blog, i can hide behind the mac to blog at work, but not to snap photos. And by night falls when i get home from work, the lighting becomes too lousy for great photographs! I salute all you fellow bloggers with great photography skills!

Birds of Paradise

The bold saturated colors, the billowing gowns... i can't point on a single thing i dislike. The intensity of the entire spread is spectacular.

080808

The opening of the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing brings about a spectacular array of made-made patterns and costumes. Extremely memorable and breathtaking. It was one hell of a show! Bravo to the team that put the entire show together as well as all the participants!

the hen or the egg?

At first i was intrigued by the photography, nothing extremely spectacular, but the sheerness and whiteness of the entire spread looks refreshingly dazed. And then i noticed the amazing neck pieces and found it uncannily familiar. They resembles the pieces done by kwodrent, a local designer/artist. And i thought proudly, hey, that's made in Singapore! But when i took a closer look, the credit goes to Ka/Pow/Wow

Kwodrent, the brainchild of Grace Tan, is a progressive series of clothing and fabric works based on the study of rectangles, reference to the material and construction methods. It has blurred the line between art, fashion and architecture. Ka/Pow/Wow on the other hand, does neckpieces inspired by Jacobian  ruffs and natural structures such as fruit and corals, handcrafted from reclaimed textiles. Ka/Pow/Wow is all about dramatic neckpieces.

Both extremely clever and pretty, so which came first? But i believe such coincidental ideas do exist without any piracy involved too.

color intervention

The subtleness of color in the first photo and the divine white with the saturated colors popping in the second is simply incredible. A very nice contrast when seen as a set.

You can find more works by Muiz Anwar in flickr.

Maki Anyone?

I've been watching Makimaki Vintage for quite awhile now but never purchased anything from there. The main reason being the bids usually go way beyond my budget, you can expect bids to go up to over US100 at times, and even if they don't, thanks to exchange and international shipping rates, i'll still be paying alot. Makimaki Vintage make vintage clothing so desirable and modern. Probably due to the impeccable styling, the hot model and edgy shots.. vintage has never looked cooler!
i'm so in love with the white tux like dropwaist dress.

there's something about emilie

I'm not sure if it's the sunlight, the background or the outfit, this shot is amazing. Her outfit look effortless against the sunlight...
