Sale Sale Sale

Before anything else, Happy new year folks!! it's gonna be an end of a century and a start of a new one. I wish for better years ahead of everyone. Now to the shopping part..

As we all know, the best sales starts after Christmas. It's like sucking the moolah out of us during the festivities isn't enough, they plan a post Christmas sale to suck us dry. But which girl doesn't like a good buy. Right?

I know for starters rubi shoes and cottonon are having up to 50% off and those candy colored flatties can be bought for $10! Go stock them up.

Local mass retailer bysi is also having up to 70% off starting today (I think). Saw some signages up last night.

Last but not least, Deja vu vintage @Cathay will be relocating to millenia walk and therefore there will be a MASSIVE sale going on from $10 onwards and up to 80% off. Come by and say hi, I'll be there tomorrow.

At the mean time, go shop, feast and enjoy the last day of 2009!

Have a wonderful weekend!

de lovely

Isn't it lovely to walk down a rose covered aisle?

I seriously wonder how many stalks of roses are needed and i supposed this only works with short wedding dresses sans train? Weddings are so inspiring, romantic and makes you go awww.. With all the weddings I've attended and talks about friends getting married or already hitched, I am so regretting not pursuing my long time dream of being a wedding planner. Jobs opening anyone?

Colorblocking

How pretty is this Louise Markey color block dress. I love how the peplum flares out creating such a gorgeous volume and silhouette. There goes another dress into the already long list of 'i want' dresses.

Im a magpie

This season I'm attracted to all things bling and glittery. Heavily beaded vintage or vintage-inspired tops and dresses to full sequined jackets like the one below. How perfect for Christmas.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Enough of scary halloween outfits, this is probably my all time favourite of all I've seen this year. Why am I not surprise at the choice of character by blogger, Keiko Lynn and Bobby. They do look the part don't they.

OMG(!!) Like the most innovative tea ever.

Shaped in origami birds, these tea bags are made with such effort and probably love for tea. This creative concept is Natalia Ponomavera from Russia.

Marc Jacobs has a new fragrance in both spray and solid form. As usual, the solid perfume comes in a form of a ring. Not to sure bout the scent, but I'd wear this gorgeous bouquet in a heartbeat!

Stella McCartney for GapKids

How adorable is it? This is one of those unexpected collaboration - Stella McCartney for Gap Kids and Gap Baby. Some of the pieces are scaled down versions of her own collection pieces. And even thou the military jacket isn't so McCartney, I'm still loving it. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this collaboration will be brought to shores and the lil boy jackets come in youth sizes that fits us adults (me!).

edit: This 70 piece line will be launched in select Gap stores in U.S, Canada, UK, France and Japan on 2 Nov 2009. (darn!)

be inspire

This wonderful bench was once a boring dated looking piece of junk. But with a little magical this and that, it's been given a new lease of life. Something I would have bought in a heart beat. More of the DIY story here.

With the recent news of getting a new place with the folks(!), I'm so inspired to hunt for secondhand furniture (when the time comes) and give them new life. The reads at design*sponge are all so inspiring. White washed walls with a random pop of color here and there, a mix of modern and the old. It's all in my head just waiting for it to happen.

Call me shop girl

Yeah, that's what I am right now - shop girl. For the past 2 weeks, that's what i have been up to, serving, greeting and best of all being surrounded by beautiful beautiful vintage clothes. Thought I gave it a try and I actually liked it so here I am committing to this for the next couple of months, a break from the regular day job is kinda refreshing. The experience is good so far, nothing too nasty 'cept for a case of shoplifting (really audacious i tell you!). Customers are either lovely or boring, you get people walking into a vintage shop asking if they are used or secondhand! Seriously? Anyway, this will be good experience to prep me for my future shop if I have a chance of opening one some day.

btw, isn't the gown on Miss Hepburn gorgeous?

A cow with dots

Ever heard of cows with polka dots? Well i know of one with multi-colored dots and can make a uber neat headpiece. Actually an alter ego of a friend, polkadottedcow is now moving on to handy crafting creating super sweet bands like the ones below. It all started when cow was helping a fellow friend create a head piece for her wedding and soon realise her hidden talent.

The pieces created went thru major editing from the usual glamourous head pieces for weddings into simple ones for everyday wear from morning to night. What I love most is that they are best worn with casuals, nothing too matchy - pretty much the philosophy of polkadottedcow. And most importantly they are extremely afforable, available from S$39.

little treasures

I'm constantly on a look out for sweet lil things to be discovered and shared. And thanks to Bloesem, I've discoverd two new designers with different styles and asthetics and yet oh-so wonderful.

Who can resist such adorable looking brooches? Depeapa is handmade in a little home base studio in Spain by a very talented artist. The illustration on the brooches are originally drawn.

For more Depeapa designs, click here

Next up is by a designer so close to home, she resides in Hong Kong and has the most precious jewelry ever. Yellowgoat is the literal translate of the designer's name, Huang Yang. From lovely brass head to little trinklets, there's always a hidden surprise in her designs.

Birds on a dunk

Gone are these beautiful dunk. Finally had the time and headed down to Pedder Red to only find out that these super cute dunk are SOLD OUT. I want those pink birdie ones.

A collaboration between Nike and Paule Marrot Edition, the famed French textile designer known for his patterns. Remaking the traditional dunks to fit the female feet, yet keeping the essence of the original dunks, the Nike Skinny Dunk is born with cute lil birdie prints all over.
