These Boots are made for walking

These vintage tapestry boots may not be as cool as those floral Doc Martens everyone is lusting over, but they're pretty neat too! Not everyday you come across tapestry on a pair of boots. from here

Dressed to Impress

I'm not too sure if I've mentioned it, but I've left my job of 2 years before my trip to States. I know many must be thinking I'm nuts, at such difficult times, why would anyone sane leave their jobs. I didn't think it was much of a deal at first, but reality is, the industry is slowing down. Whatever it is, I needed a change and a break. I have been in that rut for the longest time and it is time to move on. The break is good, awesome in fact. I'm having more time to do things I want to do and spend them with family and the ones I love. The only down part of it, finances, the root to everything else.

Now, the fun part of it comes in, I've been sending out resumes and started thinking about interview outfits. What do you wear to an interview? I come from a creative industry, hence the less formal dress code so pantsuit and skirt suit is out. I used to wear jeans to interviews but that was when I was applying for positions in design studios. I need an outfit that shows my creative side, yet still keeping it semi formal or casual smart and fashion forward. So with all the new trends and styles, what do you recommend?

This look like a very safe outfit, in trend with the pastel colors and high-waisted pants, casual yet still looking professional.

Is a blazer/jacket over tee combi too casual? But still look pulled together with a simple black skirt and tights?

This is one of my favourite, blazer over a summer dress (printed or solid? long or short?). It's sassy, smart and very fashion forward. Question, is the boyfriend blazer too sloppy for an interview? Or should it be replaced with a cropped jacket for a better fit.

Lastly, dresses with tights (thou it is tremendously hot these days, sometimes we have to make sacrifices). Printed vs solid dresses, which way to go?
Lastly, shoes; heels, flats, booties? What's good and what's not?

Summer whites

White floaty dresses, a signature headband and brogues! How refreshing and unexpecting. Now I feel a need to score one of those white brogues (or a uber cool black & white one) on ebay.

One Dress - 365days

Okay, I know I haven't been updating this blog for weeks. It's depressing cause my powerbook has officially died and the other available PC/Laptop at home works on a 192RAM or less. So hence the lack of updates. In fact I haven't even been reading any of my favourite blogs. It's just extremely frustrating since I'm free 24/7 to surf the net.

Anyway, I came across this via the swirl girls blog, an extremely interesting fashion concept with a cause. Conceptualize by Sheela Matheiken, The Uniform Project is to wear a custom designed dress by her friend, Eliza Starbuck for 365 days, adding layers and accessories to reinvent the look each day. How cool is that? And funds raised will go to the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroot movement that is revolutionizing education in India. You can contribute by donating cash to the project or accessories to assist in styling.

The looks created are definitely inspiring and you'd never had thought that they are the same dress. Started in May 2009 and 10 more months to go, I can't wait to see what else she has up her sleeves with styling! She's definitely going straight into my google reader for fashion inspiration.

I'm back!

Sorry for the long hiatus, I've been on vacation and thou i've been back for more than a week now, I still wish I was away. I guess I left my heart in San Francisco (cheesy!). I fell in love with the city in a heartbeat. And since I've been back the heatwave has been such a killer until today. The lack of coolness in the air has made it difficult to feel inspired with fashion or anything at all. And not to mention my 8 year old powerbook might be abandoning me for apple-haven very soon.

With the recent heat wave, and being uninspired fashion wise, I started looking around for inspiration for summer dressing.

First thing that comes to mind would be to throw on a dress and flats, but these girls slipped on killer shoes and rock the look.
Else, sneakers would do the trick too. A pretty lacey frock with sneakers, how unexpected!
Wearing shorts is probably the simplest way to staying cool all summer, but pairing them with blouse or shirt pulls the look together without looking sloppy as opposed to wearing it with tanks or tees. All you need now are nice toned legs to nail it.
Looks like I'd have to hit the gym real soon.
